My journey into nervous system healing began during pregnancy, over 15 years ago, when a deep fear of repeating generational patterns led me to commit to creating a different emotional inheritance for my daughter.
At the time, I understood many of my patterns intellectually, but understanding them didn't necessarily change how I felt. I experienced intense fear that I might unknowingly repeat emotional harm I had inherited, and I began to recognize how deeply our nervous systems can carry what our minds have already understood.
Rather than continuing the cycle, I became deeply committed to learning how to create greater safety and regulation within myself and, in turn, a different experience for both of us.
Along the way, I worked with a therapist whose approach included a spiritual perspective and a language for healing that deeply resonated with me. That experience opened me to a more expansive understanding of what healing could be.
I explored EFT tapping, breathwork, energy medicine, meditation, yoga, and other approaches to nervous system regulation. As my understanding deepened, I became increasingly interested in integrative and holistic approaches to wellness—the ways our emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual experiences influence one another. I eventually pursued formal training through the Integrative Wellness & Life Coach program at Integrative Wellness Academy, where I learned to consider well-being through the lens of balance among these interconnected aspects of our lives.
Each offered something valuable, but over time I came to understand that some of the greatest healing in my own life came through something even more fundamental:
Feeling completely seen, heard, held, and understood.
When that experience was combined with consistent EFT work, something began to change beneath the surface. The undercurrent of my life became different. I became less governed by old patterns and more able to respond with calm, curiosity, compassion, and choice.
That experience profoundly shaped the way I understand healing.
I came to see that we don't necessarily heal by getting rid of the parts of ourselves that struggle. We heal by creating enough safety and understanding for those parts to be heard, understood, and integrated.
This is at the heart of my work today.
I believe that greater well-being can emerge when we stop fighting ourselves and begin creating the conditions for the different parts of our lives to work together.
That is what I mean by cultivating coherence.
Because when your inner and outer worlds can begin to work together, your nervous system has more room to do something truly important: actually rest. (Yes, that includes better sleep, too.)
